As we engage in the honored tradition of grousing about our lousy choice of candidates, there is something of much greater importance to the nation that you can do.
Make sure we get a 28th Amendment to the Constitution.
This amendment reads as follows:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and,
Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/orRepresentatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the UnitedStates."
Not possible to do, you say? Posh!
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven took 1 year or less to become law...all because of public pressure.
For example, the 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified, because The People demanded it. And that was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.
So this oughta be a cinch! If everyone who reads this forwards this blog post to a minimum of twenty people, and in turn ask each of those to do likewise - with everyone demanding of their representative to support such an amendment - in three days most people in The US will have the message, as will their representatives in Congress.
And we'll have a 28th Amendment that's very much "for the people"...
